It’ll soon be time to retire our boots, coats and winter gear after another year of dutiful service. Goodbye heavy black layers, hello brightness and colour! And what better way to prep for spring with its milder (and brighter!) days, than by setting aside a little shopping money so you can snap up all the best pieces as soon as they hit stores? Here are the three spring 2017 trends that set my heart aflutter and transport me to sundrenched patios.
The reign of the military parka has ended and given way to the good old trench coat. If you already have one, it’s time to take it out of the closet and make sure it’s still in good shape. This is a great option if you prefer traditional lines and like a defined waist. If you need to update your coat or just want something a little trendier, I recommend trying the deconstructed trench with its more flowing silhouette, at once chic and sporty. Both styles pair well with slightly retro Prodesign frames and sunglasses.
Canary yellows, fuchsias and the camp of super bright colours are stealing the spotlight on all major designer runways. To get this 2017 trend right, wear just one of these super bright shades at a time and leave the colour-blocking in the passé pile. Then complete your monochrome look with accessories in similar or neutral shades. If the idea of wearing loud colours scares you, a brightly coloured purse or socks is a discreet way to spruce up your look. And with their black and transparent frames, Marc Jacobs sunglasses are the perfect finishing touch on this trend.
Flowers will burst forth this summer in many forms: from prints on maxi dresses to Mexican-style embroidery on your favourite pair of jeans. The key difference is that this season, they’ll appear on contrasting backgrounds of red or black, doing away with the romantic, wallflower look. To pull off this flowery but edgy look, you’ll need glasses that pack a punch. In this case, these black-and-gold Chloé frames hit the mark!
